According to a study by Safewise, Arkansas is the most dangerous state in terms of driving in the rain. Although, during rain or shine, certain roads in Arkansas are more dangerous than others.

VEHICULAR FATALITIES IN ARKANSAS

In 2018, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), there were 472 fatal car accidents in Arkansas. Of those fatal accidents, 516 people lost their lives.

The following are the most dangerous roads in Arkansas:

#1 – HIGHWAY 12

Highway 12 in Northwest Arkansas is home to at least one fatal accident for every 11.4 miles of road. Highway 12 is a total of 57 miles and stretches from Oklahoma in the west to Highway 23 in the east.

#2 – HIGHWAY 270

Highway 270 claims at least one life for every 13 miles of road. The portion of Highway 270 in Arkansas is a 156 mile stretch from White Hall/Pine Bluff through Sheridan, Malvern, Hot Springs, and Mount Ida into Oklahoma.

#3 – HIGHWAY 67

The most fatal car accidents in the state occur on Arkansas’ portion of Highway 67. At least 15 fatal car crashes occurred on Highway 67 during 2019.

While accidents can happen anywhere, it’s a good idea to be extra cautious on these Arkansas roads to help avoid collisions.
